Adding menu and submenu items to your navigation bar
When you add a new page in your WordPress site the page does not usually appear in your top navigation bar. If it doesn’t, you need to add it manually. This tutorial shows how to add a page to the navbar. It also shows how to create a submenu in the navbar.
Introduction
[twocol_one]Suppose you’ve created a blog page and now you want to make it appear in your website navigation bar. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]

Step 1
[twocol_one]Log in to your site’s Dashboard. In the Dashboard column on the left-hand side of the screen, click the Appearance category, followed by Menus. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]
[hr]
Step 2
[twocol_one]To the right of the Dashboard column, under Theme Locations, make sure the navigation menu you want to add the page to is selected. In most cases you won’t need to change anything here as your main navigation menu will already be selected. But if your site has two navigation bars, make sure you select the right one here and click Save. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]

Step 3
[twocol_one]In the centre of the page you will find a number of stacked tabs showing the pages that are currently in your main navigation bar. In this example, we have the Home, About and Contact pages. We need to add the new Blog page to this stack.[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]
[hr]
Step 4
[twocol_one]To add the new page, scroll down to the Pages section. This section lists all the pages you already have in your site. Select the page you want to add to the navigation – in this case Blog – and click Add to Menu.[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]
[hr]
Step 5
[twocol_one]When you scroll up to the stack, you see the new page added at the bottom. This means it will appear last in the navigation bar. In this case, we want the Blog to come near the front of the bar. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]
[hr]
Step 6
[twocol_one]To get the page to the top of the bar, we simply drag it higher up the stack and drop it into position. Important – you need to be careful how you position the tab. It should settle so that it is aligned left in line with all the other tabs and should not be indented to the right. If it’s indented it will create a submenu under the item above it. A submenu is useful if you have a page of, for example, Services, and then you want to list different services under that page. Note, you might have to jiggle the tab a bit when you drop it to make sure it goes in the right position. When you have finished positioning the tabs, click Save Menu.

Step 7
[twocol_one]When you refresh your home page, the new page now appears in the navigation[/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]

Step 8
[twocol_one]PS … this is what a submenu looks like. The “Hypnosis for wellbeing …” page is a submenu of the Hypnosis page. [/twocol_one] [twocol_one_last][/twocol_one_last]
