How to set up mail 1When you get your new website you will also get an email address (or several). This is how to add the new account to your desktop or laptop email application so you can easily send and receive mail.

The following tutorial is based on Microsoft Live Mail. For Microsoft Outlook, MAC or others, see the Hetzner email tutorials.

Before you begin, make sure you have the email password and server details given to you on completion of your site.
In this example, we’re going to add the hello@webrabbit.co.za email address to a Windows Live Mail desktop application.

Step 4

Enter your new email address and password. In the ‘Display name for your sent messages’ text box, enter the name you want to appear in the emails you send. People usually use their own name or their company name.

Under ‘Incoming server information, make sure the drop-down list is set to POP (unless you are configuring IMAP). In the Server address text box type in the name of the incoming mail address as provided to you. In the ‘Logon user name’ be sure to add the full email address (e.g. hello@webrabbit.co.za) if it isn’t automatically added (some applications just give the first part, e.g. ‘hello‘.)

Under ‘Outgoing server information’ add the outgoing server address as provided to you. Select the Requires authentication checkbox (Note: If you are hosting with someone other than WebRabbit you might not need to select this. Check your host’s instructions. This part can always be changed later in the account’s Properties).
